Online VHF Radio Course
When purchasing this product, you are purchasing a gift pack containing a license key to attend the Online VHF Radio Course run by Above & Beyond Boating.
About the Online Radio Course
This Online Radio Course allows you to learn everything you need to know about using VHF Radios, at your own pace and wherever you like!
At the end of this course, you will know how to call for help in an emergency, communicate with other vessels at sea and understand how to use various safety equipment you may have onboard.
This is an online course. The course takes around 4 hours to complete. It is structured so you can review the material as fast or as slow as you feel comfortable.
On completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to complete an exam and get your VHF Radio Licence.
Before sitting your exam, you will be required to pay a license fee directly to the Office of Maritime Communications who marks the exam papers and distribute licenses. This license fee is not included in the online course enrolment. Your certificate of proficiency does not expire. Visit the Above & Beyond Boating website for current exam fees.
VHF Licence will allow you to apply for an MMSI number for your vessel. An MMSI number programmed into your radio will allow the DSC function to be used in an emergency.
The MMSI number will also enable your vessel to transmit via AIS. A Radio Licence and an MMSI number is essential for everyone wishing to be safe on the water.
